Anant Hegde sparks controversy; calls opposition crows, monkeys, foxes
With barely 11 months left for 2019 General Elections, the war of words between the leaders of political parties have started. In the latest episode, Union Minister Anant Kumar Hegde had called the Prime Minister Narendra Modi as ‘Tiger’, while termed opposition leaders as ‘crows, monkeys and foxes’.
It is to remember that, the national president of Bharatiya Janata Party, Amit Shah, had likened the opposition to ‘snakes, dogs and cats’ while addressing a rally earlier. Though Hegde took the cue from Shah, but used different animals this time.

Attacking the opposition parties, who participated in the swearing-in ceremony of Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy last month in Bengaluru, Anant said, “On one side crows, monkeys, foxes and others have come together, On the other side we have a tiger. In 2019, choose to elect the tiger.”
Known for making controversial comments, Hegde this time too, spoke on the chairs made of gold and silver. He said, “We are sitting on plastic chairs isn’t it?”, laughing and again mocking the Congress’ rule by saying, “This is due to Congress rule, had we ruled for 70 years, you would have been sitting on silver chairs”.

Hegde was in the news last December for his remarks on secular people when he called them persons who have no self-identity or parentage, as they do not believe in religion and caste. Not only on political parties and secular people, he also sparked controversy earlier when he said that ‘the Constitution will change in time to come’. Though after this statement he had to face ire of politicians.
With dates on the counting mode for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, looks like more of these speeches will be spoken in public and politicians will be associated with more species.
