Amitabh Bachchan Joins Radhika Apte & Charlie Hunnam In Apple TV’s Shantaram?

Apple TV+ is adapting Gregory David Roberts’ best-selling novel ‘Shantaram’ into a series of the same name. The screen adaptation of the best-selling novel has garnered much attention. Shantaram was announced in 2019 and stars Charlie Hunnam in the lead, with Radhika Apte playing a pivotal character. Reportedly Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan too is a part of the series.

As reported by sources to Bollywood Hungama, Amitabh Bachchan has joined the cast of Apple’s International drama web show. Big B who recovered from COVID-19 recently is likely to play the role of crime lord Khader Khan.

Sources added, “Amitabh Bachchan, who was supposed to be part of Nair’s film, will be attached to the series. He is likely to play crime lord Khader Khan.”

The shoot of the series has been delayed due to the COVID-19 lockdown. It has now been pushed to 2021. The makers are hunting for locations with low risks to release the series in January 2021. The team has been looking for low-risk areas to shoot. It will be largely filmed outdoors instead of on a set,” the source added.

Shantaram, directed by Justin Kurzel, stars Radhika Apte, Charlie Hunnam, and Richard Roxburgh. Reportedly, Randeep Hooda will also be seen in the show. The series is supposed to have 10 episodes. They will be around the heroin-addicted Australian bank robber who escapes prison and settles in the slums of India. It is being helmed by Justin Kurzel.
