According To The Latest Reports, Bollywood Filmmakers To Treat Big B's Fans With The Remake Of 'Shakti'.
Its been 38 years since the Dilip Kumar and Amitabh Bachchan starrer ‘Shakti’ was released in the theatres. The blockbuster film now to get a remake version. The action-crime helmed by Ramesh Sippy starred Smita Patil, Raakhee and Amrish Puri in prominent roles alongside Kumar and Big B. Now we hear that the producers are planning to bring a remake version of the film.
Reportedly, the producers wanted to feature to Amitabh in the film as the father and his real-life son Abhishek Bachchan as the rebellious son. However, the is said to have never materialised. And now, the makers are considering for the remake of the popular film. Director Shree Narayan Singh, who earlier helmed ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’ and ‘Batti Gul Meter Chalu’ will direct this remake.
While talking about the project, a source close to the development has informed Mumbai Mirror, “Around 10 years ago, the idea of a remake had come up with Amitabh stepping in for Dilip Kumar as the father who, in his commitment to the force, alienates his only son, who is then caught in the crossfire between two warring gangsters. But eventually, he loses his life to a bullet from his father’s gun. Abhishek Bachchan was to play Vijay then. The project, which was put on the backburner, is on track again, but with a different team. I have been working on the film for the last two years with Anjum Rajabali and Saumya Joshi penning the script. It’s a huge responsibility, which is why we are taking time to finalise the script, even though ours is more of an adaptation than a remake. The idea is to take the film on floors by next year”.
Meanwhile, Amitabh Bachchan was last seen sharing the screen space with Ayushmann Khurrana in ‘Gulabo Sitabo’. The film was released on digital platform due to the pandemic lockdown. The actor was recently discharged from the hospitalised, as he had tested positive for the Coronavirus.
