Megastar Amitabh Bachchan and actor Ayushmann Khurrana will soon be sharing space for a Shoojit Sircar film. The movie titled ‘Gulabo Sitabo’ is a family comedy set in Lucknow. It is written by Juhi Chaturvedi of ‘Vicky Donor’, ‘Piku’ and ‘October’ fame. It will be produced by Ronnie Lahiri and Sheel Kumar.
As reported by IANS, Speaking about the film Sircar said in a statement: “Me and Juhi have been working on this script for quite some time…and as we all know, when Juhi comes up with a story it has her trademark quirk in it. As soon as I read it, I was extremely excited and shared it with Ronnie, my dear friend and producer and to both Mr. Bachchan and Ayushmann at the same time.”
Sircar thought it would take some time to develop and proceed, “But everyone including the duo was so enthusiastic to do this script, that they figured their dates and here we are, planning to release it this year. After ‘Piku” and ‘Vicky Donor’, I had been wanting to work with Mr Bachchan and Ayushmann on an equally quirky script so this fell perfectly in place.”
Shoojit added that as the story is based in Lucknow, and ‘Gulabo Sitabo’ is a fun colloquial metaphor used by the locals. Therefore they decided to name the family drama as ‘Gulabo Sitabo’.
On the work front, Amitabh Bachchan is at present busy with Ayan Mukerji’s ‘Brahmastra’. The fantasy adventure drama also features Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt. He also has ‘Chehre’ co-starring Emraan Hashmi, ‘Jhund’ and ‘Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy’.
