Amazon Music has finally launched its first app on Apple TV and Apple TV 4K. The announcement of launching the Amazon Music app comes days after Spotify launched its app on the Apple TV. The Amazon Music app merely requires to have version tvOS 12.0, which can also be downloaded from the tvOS App Store.
If you are a subscriber, you will be able to listen to the 40 million songs available on Amazon Music app and can access their popular artists, playlists and purchased music. Despite having a feud in the past both Amazon and Apple are eager to work together.
In addition, you also have an option to follow along with scrolling lyrics in the app, and Amazon Music listeners using Apple TV can also access all purchased and imported music that’s in their “My Music” library.
As of now, the Amazon Music app for Apple TV is available in the US, UK, Australia, New Zealand, Brazil, Canada, France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Mexico, Japan, and India. Amazon Music app is likely to give a tough competition to Apple’s own Apple Music service. You must be thinking why would Apple give a rival company space on its own music streaming platform.
Why would Apple want to increase competition for its own music service?
The music streaming platform, Spotify, has recently said that Apple’s ownership of both the platform and its own service are textbook anti-competitive behaviour, which has led to the US government to investigate the situation.
After Spotify, now Amazon has collaborated with Amazon Music streaming services on Apple TV, which is likely to emerge as big competitor of Apple Music Store. You can download the Amazon Music app from here.
