Amarnath Yatra To Be Cancelled Due To COVID-19 Pandemic

Every year Amarnath Yatra takes place at a grand level, as devotees pay a visit to the auspicious cave of Amarnath in Kashmir. But sad to say that the yatra has been cancelled this year due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board held an emergency video conference. The committee decided to cancel the yatra in order to curb the spread of the virus.

As per the reports, the board stated, “The Board further discussed that pandemic has put the health administration system to its limit. The spike has been particularly very sharp in July. Health Workers and Security Forces are also getting infected. The focus of the entire Medical, Civil, and Police Administration at the moment is on containing the local transmission.”

“The Board is aware of and respects the sentiments of millions of devotees and to keep the religious sentiments alive, the Board shall continue the Live telecast/virtual darshan of the morning and evening Aarti. Further, the traditional rituals shall be carried out as per past practice,” the statement further added.

Every year around 10 lakhs devotees from all across the country visit the Amarnath cave Shrines. This is the second time that it has been cancelled. However, the morning and evening Aarti will be virtually available for the devotees.
