Yet another horrific story of murder came to light in Uttar Pradesh. A man was shot dead and blown up by a bomb by unidentified men inside a Durga Puja Pandal in Allahabad. The incident took place on Tuesday in Rajpur and has been caught in CCTV camera.
According to the English news channel, Times Now, the man who was shot dead, has been identified as Niraj Balmiki. He is said to be a history-sheeter and has around 10 cases registered against him. He was also the president of the Durga puja samiti.
As per the report, he was sitting inside in the Durga Puja Pandal when four men approached him and opened fire at him. The police also suspected that Niraj Balmiki knew one of the men who shot him. The police are looking into the matter.
After shooting at him the attackers then escaped to the military area. In the video, people can be seen running here and there. Some of them informed police and took the injured to a hospital where he was reportedly brought dead. Valmiki had around four to five bullet injuries.
Allahabad SSP Nitin Tiwari told the media, “We have set up three crime branch teams and will soon nab the accused.” He further said that Valmiki had recently been released from jail and had nine cases including those of murder and loot registered against him in Cantonment police station.
According to the report, his name has also been linked with gangster Chhota Rajan and the 2006 shootout at Kala Ghoda, Mumbai.
An FIR has been registered against the accused, who are now absconding.
