‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ is based on a chapter of Hussain Zaidi’s book Mafia Queens of Mumbai about Gangubai Kothewali, the madam of a brothel in Kamathipura, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. It is slated to release on July 30, 2021. The film will also star Ajay Devgn, Shantanu Maheshwari, Vijay Raaz, Indira Tiwari, and Seema Pahwa. The will mark the biggest film in her career so far as a solo lead.
Brahmastra
‘Brahmastra’ also known as ‘Brahmāstra: Part One of Three.’ The film also features Ranbir Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna Akkineni, and Mouni Roy in pivotal roles. This marks her first collaboration between the real-life couple, Alia-Ranbir, and is also one of the most anticipated films of this year. It will be released in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam. The fantasy action-adventure film is written and directed by Ayan Mukerji, and produced by Karan Johar.
RRR
‘RRR’ is a period action drama film directed by S. S. Rajamouli. Alia Bhatt will essay the role of Sita in the movie. On the occasion of her birthday, the first look from her character was unveiled. It also marks Alia’s first venture with SS Rajamouli. The cast includes N. T. Rama Rao Jr. and Ram Charan while Olivia Morris, Ajay Devgn, Samuthirakani, Ray Stevenson, and Alison Doody play a supporting role.
Darlings
Alia Bhatt added a feather to her cap and started her own production house titled Eternal Sunshine Productions. Recently, she announced her maiden production, ‘Darlings’, a dark comedy about a mother-daughter duo that also brings her on-screen with Shefali Shah for the first time. Roshan Mathew and Alia’s Gully Boy co-star Vijay Varma will also star in the film, co-produced by Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment.
Takht
Karan Johar had announced magnum opus Takht with a star-studded cast in August 2019. the film is a historical drama about the Mughal rivalry for the throne between Aurangzeb and his brother Dara Shikoh. The film brings together an ensemble cast of Ranveer Singh, Vicky Kaushal, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor, Bhumi Pednekar, Janhvi Kapoor, and Anil Kapoor. It is yet to go on floors.
