Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s next, ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ starring Alia Bhatt is one of the most anticipated film from Bollywood. The actress recently wrapped the shoot schedule in Mumbai. SLB’s upcoming film is being made on the real life story of Gangubai Kathiawadi. Her son Babuji Rawji Shah has alleged that the contents of the book on which the movie is based on are defamatory and constitute an infringement on his right to privacy, self-respect and liberty. The book is based on Hussain Zaidi’s ‘The Mafia Queens of Mumbai’. Shah has also filed a case against the author and reporter Jane Borges.
Talking about the case, Shah’s lawyer, Narendra Dubey informed The Print, “Ever since the promo of the film came out, rumours have spread and Shah has been harassed in his own locality. His leg was fractured from being hit. His relatives are also suffering as they are now being known as coming from a ‘prostitute family’.”
The makers are yet to react on this case filed by Shah. The film also features Ajay Devgn and Emraan Hashmi in the key roles. The film was slated to be released in September this year, however owing to the pandemic outspread the release has been delayed.
