Alia Bhatt-Sanjay Dutt Starrer Sadak 2 To Get A Digital Release?

With the COVID-19 pandemic putting theaters out of the picture, more and more big names are now heading towards OTT platforms. Films like Gulabo Sitabo, Shakuntala Devi, and Gunjan Saxena – The Kargil Girl have already opted to go for a digital release. Now, it seems like Mahesh Bhatt’s Sadak 2, which features Alia Bhatt and Sanjay Dutt, might also be making its way to a direct digital release.

As per the latest reports, the makers of Sadak 2 are planning to skip the theatrical release and premiere the film on Disney+ Hotstar. The film is being produced by Fox Star Studios and Vishesh Films. Sadak 2 is a sequel to Mahesh Bhatt’s 1991 romantic thriller, Sadak. The upcoming film stars Alia Bhatt, Sanjay Dutt, Aditya Roy Kapoor, and Pooja Bhatt in the lead roles. Sadak 2 will mark Mahesh Bhatt’s comeback as a director after 21 years. He last directed the 1999 film Kartoos.

Before this, Akshay Kumar’s Laxmmi Bomb and Ajay Devgn’s Bhuj: The Pride of India were also being speculated to release directly on Disney+Hostar. There are also rumors of Dil Bechara, the Indian adaptation of The Fault In Our Stars, and the crime-comedy Lootcase will release on the same platform.

Sadak 2 actor Alia Bhatt will also be seen in Ayan Mukherji’s Brahmastra. Brahmastra was initially scheduled to release in 2019 around Christmas. However, the date was then pushed back to December 2020. In addition, she is also a part of SS Rajamouli’s much-awaited film RRR.

Meanwhile, Ranbir Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt starrer ‘Shamshera’ is also expected to resume production soon.
