Al-Qaeda commander Zakir Musa spotted in Punjab with 5-6 terrorists; state remains on high alert
The Punjab police have been put on high alert after Al-Qaeda commander Zakir Musa, one of the most wanted terrorist, was spotted earlier on November 16 in the state.
Posters of Musa were put up in several places in Punjab by police on Friday after receiving the inputs that he and 5-6 Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists may have entered the state through Ferozepur. As the intelligence inputs claim that the terrorist and his group may be moving towards the national capital, New Delhi, special checkpoints have been set up to track them down.
“We had inputs that some Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorists have infiltrated in Punjab through Ferozpur. So, we have taken precautionary measures and extra forces have been deployed. Checking is underway,” Gurdaspur SSP Swarandeep Singh was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.
Swarandeep further added that there have been specific inputs about Musa’s movements near Amritsar. “We have released wanted posters of him to make public aware and have requested the public to tell us if they have any information,” he said.
Musa heads the terrorist outfit Ansar Gazwat ul Hind and is responsible for sending recruits to Jammu and Kashmir and has previously been suspected of planning fidayeen attacks. He had reportedly joined Al-Qaeda after having a fallout with Hizbul Mujahideen. He is one of the most wanted terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir.
