Cyclone Fani with a wind speed of nearly 200 kmph has wreaked havoc in Odisha on Friday. Relief and rescue operations were soon begun on a massive scale to help the victims. Bollywood celebrities too took to their social media handles and asked fans to donate generously. Superstar Akshay Kumar has already donated Rs. 1 crore for the Odisha cyclone victims.
The ‘Padman’ star is known to donate generously for a number of causes. Recently reports of the actor donating almost a crore for the Cheif Minister’s Relief Fund for Odisha cyclone victims is viral.
As reported by a source to HT, “This is not new. Akshay has always been contributing for causes, be it his Bharat ke Veer initiative for the armed forces, or his contribution to the Kerala Floods or Chennai floods earlier.”
Akshay Kumar had earlier donated Rs. 5 crore for Bharat Ke Veer and also Rs 1 crore for the Chennai flood victims relief work.
Madhuri Dixit, Tiger Shroff, Rajkummar Rao, Boman Irani, Disha Patani, Varun Dhawan, Abhishek Bachchan, Taapsee Pannu, Bhumi Pednekar, Sidharth Malhotra and many more asked their fans to donate for the welfare of the victims.
On the work front, Akshay Kumar will next be seen in Karan Johar’s ‘Good News’ co-starring Kareena Kapoor, Diljit Dosanjh and Kiara Advani. He also has ‘Housefull 4’ and ‘Misson Mangal’. The ‘Kesari’ star has also started work on Rohit Shetty’s upcoming directorial ‘Sooryavanshi’. He will be playing a cop in the movie and Katrina Kaif will play his romantic interest.
