A horrific revelation of the ordeal of a class 11 student of Mayo College in Ajmer has come to light. His father alleged that his son was sexually abused by six class 12 boarders multiple times between July 10 and 20, according to a first information report (FIR) registered at Alwar Gate police station on August 2.
Priti Chaudhary, deputy superintendent of police, who has been appointed as the investigating officer of the case, said, “We have registered a case on the father’s complaint under different sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POSCO) Act against six named students of Mayo College and are investigating. It is very early to say anything on this.”
Surendra Kulkarni, principal and director of Mayo College reacted to the incident and asserted, “The police is investigating the matter, let’s wait for the findings; I have nothing more to say at this juncture”.
The school’s management committee has seconded the FIR (No. 283/18), lodged by the father, the Class 11 student was sexually abused by his seniors for a number of days. “On July 10, the seniors barged into my son’s room and forced him to drink alcohol and take drugs. They took him to the washroom later and sodomised him in turns,” the father said in the FIR.
“Each time they sexually abused my son, they forced him to take drugs. They threatened him of dire consequences if he reported the incident to anyone,” the man reported in the FIR. Until July 26, the abuse continued after which the boy left and told his parents about what he was going through, the father said in his complaint to the police.
“He is under great distress and is deeply disturbed. This was his first year in the boarding school,” the FIR quoted father as saying. The FIR in which school management committee is a co-complainant has been verified by Hindustan Times.
