AITA to discuss amendments of Davis Cup and transition tour
The meeting of All India Tennis Association (AITA) Executive committee is scheduled on 30th June 2018 to discuss proposals of ITF for amendments to the Davis cup and transition tour. This was done following representations received from both former and current players along with the administrators.
The International Tennis Federation (ITF) has proposed changes in Davis Cup Competition by having one-week World Group Finals of 18 Teams in November. Meanwhile, certain changes have also been suggested in respect of Zonal ties and the Home and Away concept.
With regards to the Transition Tour, AITA has been informed that from 2020 there will be no ATP points for ITF Futures and points for players will be available on the basis of ATP Challenger. They added that from 2019 only the four Semi-Finalists will be awarded points for US$ 25K Futures.
The governing body of Indian tennis will also discuss the resolution proposed by it for changing composition of the Board Of Director of ITF. AITA has proposed a change in the composition to make the Board more representative of all the regions and nations and increasing the number of Directors from 13 to 14.
AITA will discuss this resolution as a result of the meeting held during Roland Garros on 8th June 2018 wherein AITA was requested to reconsider submission of the proposal.
