Aishwarya Rai Bachchan made her acting debut in Mani Ratnam’s 1997 Tamil film Iruvar and had her first Hindi film release in Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya that same year. The actress had acted in my Kollywood movies and recently, it was revealed that she rejected Rajnikanth’s four movies even before attaining stardom. Yes, you read that right!
As per the report on the internet, Aishwarya was approached for four Tamil movies of Rajinikanth – Padayappa, Baba, Chandramukhi, and Sivaji. Even after knowing the Tamil superstar’s popularity she chose to reject it.
At the silver jubilee function of Chandramukhi, Rajinikanth stated, “When the makers of the movie approached me, I told them to first get the dates of Vadivelu, because he is a busy man. After which I asked to them to approach Aishwarya Rai. You might be asking why her name crops up for my every film and wonder whether I like to do a duet with Aishwarya (Laughs)…we approached her for Padayappa for Neelambari character,” he said
Further, the superstar continued, “We then had offered her a role in Baba and changed the character once she was not part of the film. Then, the offer was sent to her for Chandramukhi. Imagine how this movie would have been if she had enacted the role (Jyothika’s character). Now, we are in talks with her for Sivaji,”
Finally, after rejecting the superstar’s four movies, she accepted Enthiran which was later dubbed into Hindi as Robot which was released in 2010. It was India’s most expensive film up to that point and also gained a positive response.
On the work front, Aishwarya Rai will reteam with Mani Ratnam for the Tamil historical drama Ponniyin Selvan, whereas, Rajnikanth will be seen next in the Tamil-language action drama film Annaatthe.
