Afghanistan defeated Bangladesh by 6 wickets to clinch the series 2-0. Another astounding performance by the Afghan boys. Before the series begun, Shakib Al Hasan said in a press conference that Bangladesh will start as underdogs in this series. That’s the only precise call that Shakib has taken in the entire series.
Afghanistan have looked a champion side from the outset. They have brute batsman and a deep line up to back the tricky spin troika. A very well balanced side that can compete with any big team on any given day. Afghanistan restricted the opposition to 134 runs. An easy chase came down to 20 runs needed of the last 2 overs. Seemed anyone’s game at that point of time but 4 balls later the match was done and dusted. Blistering knock by Nabi sealed the deal. He scored 20 runs of 4 balls against Rubel Hussain and won the game for his side.
Bangladesh had their moments as well. Tamim looked good with his 43 runs but the major mistake again came against Rashid Khan. Batters seemed to attack him instead of maneuvering him for singles and doubles. Gave away 4 crucial wickets on foolish shots. Shakib was the one who began it all with his heave straight to mid on.
Amazing result for Afghanistan. They would love to announce their arrival at world stage with a white wash against Bangladesh. The third T20 will be a dead rubber but the all important pride is at stake for the Bangladesh team.
