Adult Swim Games has announced that there is a new Samurai Jack game in the works called Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time. Adult Swim Games has previously published video games like Headlander, Robot Unicorn Attack, Duck Game, Death’s Gambit and Pocket Mortys for PC.
The announcement was made on IGN. In addition, it was also revealed that Soleil Ltd. will be developing the 3D action-adventure game. Soleil’s previous work includes Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker, No More Heroes: Travis Strikes Again, and the critically panned Devil’s Third.
Players will get to step in the shoes of Jack. Jack is chasing after Aku before being propelled into the future. This basically makes the new project a prequel to the Samurai Jack animated series. In addition, all the original voice actors are coming back for the project to amp up the nostalgia factor of the game. The game will be released on Steam, PS4, and Xbox One in 2020. However, there is no fixed release date yet. Adult Swim Games has released the official trailer for Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time through IGN. Battle Through Time will be the first Samurai Jack video game since Samurai Jack: The Shadow of Aku.
Samurai Jack originally ran for four seasons until September 25, 2004, without concluding the story. The show was revived twelve years later for the fifth season that provided a conclusion to Jack’s story. The fifth season premiered on Adult Swim’s Toonami block on March 11, 2017. It concluded with its final episode, which serves as the series finale, on May 20, 2017. This was 13 years after the Emmy-winning series stopped its original run on Cartoon Network.
