Talking about the film, Butani had earlier told Mumbai Mirror, “It’s a real-life story and the title Kwatha comes from a place in Manipur, one of the villages on the border of India and Mynamar. It’s a story about an army officer and the relationship that he shares with this village.”
Notably, Aayush Sharma’s Hindi film debut Loveyatri failed to entertain the audience. However, Butani believes that Aayush is the perfect man to play Army officer in Kwatha.
“We clicked in the first meeting itself. Very few films have been made on the North East and it’s time that the rest of India and world see how beautiful it is and the stories it has to tell,” Butani told the daily.
Speaking about his collaboration with Butani, Ayush had stated, “It’s a huge honour to play an army officer. I’m really looking forward to start shooting for the film.”
The film is set to hit the screens in 2020.
