Australian captain Aaron Finch is back with a bang. The captain who has been facing a dire future not only survived a dubious LBW appeal but also made an amazing comeback. Aaron Finch scored the much needed 69 runs in game three of Australia’s Twenty20 series against New Zealand.
It so happened that the strike bowler Trent Boult had cornered Finch with the very first delivery. But luck favoured the captain as the umpire did not raise his finger. Though New Zealand players immediately asked the third umpire to take a look once again. The 34-year-old survived by the skin of his teeth.
Aaron soon went on to play a winning game by making a half-century on 34 balls. The knock marked Finch’s 13th T20 international half-century. It came at a crucial time and earned praise for him on social media.
Finch made each ball count as he smashed eight 4s and two 6s, striking at 156. His winning partnership with Josh Philippe (43) for an 83-run won hearts.
Inspired by Aaron Finch, cricketer Glenn Maxwell too started slowly by striking 10 runs off his first 11 balls. He soon changed his tactics and hammered every ball of Jimmy Neesham’s (0-60) final over to the boundary and also broke a chair. In this way, Maxwell made 28 runs off the set of six.
