Mr Perfectionist Aamir Khan’s recent movie Thugs of Hindostan fetched Rs 52 crore on its first day and broke several records, but soon it witnessed a sharp decline at the box office collection due to poor reviews and critics.
In the first three days of its theatrical run, Thugs Of Hindostan has earned Rs 105 crore. But if we compare Thugs of Hindostan’s three days collections with Salman Khan starrer Race 3, which had collected Rs 106.47 crore, then it is evident that Aamir Khan failed to beat Salman Khan in this regard.
According to reports, the film is holding well in the mass circuits but it is witnessing a drastic dip in the multiplexes and metro-cities. And this could be the reason for the huge drop in the collections.
Recovering the investment, a trade expert said that the film has recovered a good chunk of its investment through digital and satellite rights and by cracking a deal in the Chinese market. Though the film will have to cross the Rs 200 crore mark theatrically to avoid the tag of Flop at the box office.
The film, Thugs Of Hindostan was released across 7000 screens worldwide. The amount may have been fantastic for common people but is worrying for the makers of the movie.
The film is directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya. Its story revolves around the ‘thugs’ led by the fierce Khudabaksh (Amitabh Bachchan), who poses a threat to the John Clive-led East India Company in 1795 Hindostan. The British recruit Firangi Mallah (Aamir Khan) infiltrates the band of rebels and get them the leader of the thugs.
