1. The movies had an animal production team.
While there were three owls on the set in the first film, seven owls were used in total for the role of Hedwig. Their names were Gizmo, Kasper, Oops, Swoops, Oh Oh, Elmo, and Bandit. A dozen rats portrayed Ron’s pet rodent, Scabbers.
2. Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint were doing real schoolwork on film:
During the scenes when Harry, Hermione, and Ron are seen doing work in class, they were actually doing their real schoolwork or homework.
3. Daniel Radcliffe’s favourite prop was Harry’s glasses.
Radcliffe loved them too. Radcliffe went through 160 pairs of glasses during the shooting of the series.
4. The crew had trouble with Mrs Norris the cat in the first film.
The tabby cat that played Mrs Norris in Sorcerer’s Stone actually ran away mid-filming. But came back 48 hours later.
5. Hermione almost had buck teeth in the films.
Emma Watson who played Hermoine originally had to wear fake buck teeth. But the crew soon realized that she couldn’t talk properly with them in her mouth, so they were scrapped.
6. The magical plants in the series all come from a real-life compendium of flora.
The plant names like “Mugwort” and “toadflax” actually exist in the world. The plants in the series come from a compendium called “The Complete Herbal” by English botanist and herbalist Nicholas Culpeper.
7. The “Harry Potter” books have been translated into around 80 languages, from Albanian to Hebrew to Scots.
