Maharashtra: Religious Places Set To Open From October 7

The state government of Maharashtra has issued an important decision ahead of the upcoming festival season. As per the latest announcement, the state government has allowed the reopening of all religious places in the state from October 7. But they will have to follow strict COVID guidelines. The decision to reopen places of worship was taken in view of the drop in COVID cases.

Siddhivinayak will reopen for devotees from the first day of Navratri. 250 devotees will be allowed to visit the temple every hour. Entry will be based on the QR code that can be downloaded from the link issued by the temple or the temple trust app. This will be issued every Thursday at 12 pm. Garlands and offerings are not allowed.

Children below 10 years of age, pregnant women, patients, senior citizens above 65 years of age, and people without masks will not be allowed to enter the temple premises. Devotees need to be masked and follow social distancing.

Shirdi Sai Baba temple and Shani Shingnapur temple will allow 15,000 people and 20,000 devotees to visit the temples in a day. The devotees will have to follow the guidelines issued by the government.

The city’s mosques as well as shrines like Haji Ali and Mahim dargah are making their own preparations. They will be using halal (non-alcoholic) sanitisers for worshippers. Islam prohibits the use of alcohol. The halal sanitisers used by these shrines will instead contain hydrogen peroxide and colloidal silver.
