Delhi: National capital to reopen schools with strict anti-COVID measures

National capital, Delhi reopens schools from Wednesday (September 1) with strict anti-COVID guidelines for the staff as well as students. Owing to the pandemic COVID-19 outspread in India, the capital followed a gap of 17 months in its educational affairs. However, it is now gearing up to welcome students back to the schools. The guidelines for the school attendances include mandatory thermal screening at the entrance, staggered lunch breaks, alternate seating arrangements alongside 50% seating per classroom.

While talking about the update, Dr. CS Verma (Principal of Kautilya Government School Delhi) informed NDTV, “we are very happy to welcome back our students. We will ensure strict social distancing; students will not be allowed to share food or notebooks. we have also created an isolation room in our school in case a child feels unwell.”

Many schools and universities opted for a digital mode of communication to teach amidst the pandemic challenges. However, the schools apparently juggled to embrace this new way of teaching digitally because many students didn’t have access to the gadgets to keep up with the lectures.

Here’s how schools in Delhi reopens:

• From September 1 (Wednesday) classes for 9th to 12th students the schools will be reopened for physical attendance. It is also clarified that no student will be forced to mark physical attendance in the classroom and 50 per cent of students per classroom rule will be followed
• For class 6 to 8, the officials are expected to restart the physical attendance from September 8. The reopening for these students will be in accordance to guidelines issued by the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA).
• Students are expected to follow the social distancing guideline alongside using masks whenever and wherever it is required.
