Sonu Sood To Contest BMC Elections 2022? Actor Reveals The Truth
Actor Sonu Sood emerged as a messiah for the migrant workers during last year’s COVID-19 lockdown. Rumours are rife that the Dabangg star might contest Mumbai’s BMC Elections 2022 for Mayor’s post. The Congress Party plans to contest 227 seats in the BMC elections. They have recommended not only Sonu Sood but also the names of actors Milind Soman and Riteish Deshmukh.
Riteish, who is a popular star in Bollywood, is the son of former Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh. Milind Soman has probably been chosen for being a famous fitness enthusiast.
The three names were suggested in a strategy document prepared by the Mumbai Congress unit for the 2022 Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) polls. The 25-page document is drafted by City Congress Secretary Ganesh Yadav. It will be presented to AICC Secretary in charge of Maharashtra HK Patil in the next few days. Mumbai Congress president Bhai Jagtap will discuss the document with senior party leaders.
The document also suggested that the party is considering a candidate without any political baggage for the post. It stated that the person should have some appeal among the youth
The ‘Simmba’ star, has refuted the speculations about him joining politics. Sonu, while responding to a tweet, confirmed that he is not running for Mumbai’s mayor post.
He tweeted, “Not true. I am happy as a common man.”
