Owing to the pandemic Coronavirus outspread common people have suffered the most. The suburban local train services were shut amidst the rising COVID-19 cases, which has highly affected the economy as well as business infrastruction in Maharashtra. After easing a few COVID-19 restriction, MAHA CM Uddhav Thackeray announced about resuming the Mumbai local services for common people. The only condition here is that the travellers need to be fully vaccinated. Those who have not taken two of the doses against COVID-19 virus, won’t get the passes. Thackeray had announced that the state officials have designed a mobile application to keep a track of how many people would travel after resuming the train services. The application will issue the e-generated travel passes to only fully vaccinated people. How to travel by Mumbai Locals after August 15:
- Fully vaccinated people can get Mumbai local travel passes via both-online portals and offline mode
- On the occasion of Independence Day (August 15), Maharashtra state government will launch its official app to keep a tab on people travelling through Mumbai locals
- Only people from eligible criteria will get the monthly train passes on their smartphones
- Passengers can only download their train passes after the verification process is complete on the application
- Those who want to get photo passes, these would be available at ward officials and train stations for fully vaccinated
- These passes would have a QR code that will be used to check the authenticity of the pass and the traveller
- The traveller needs to complete 14-days after getting second jab
- Basically there are two eligibility criteria to travel in Mumbai locals after the lockdown i.e. fully vaccinated and there must be a gap of 14 days after taking his/her second jab to generate the e-pass
How to get Mumbai local pass from the UNIVERSAL TRAVEL PASS?
- Fully vaccinated people have to get registered themselves on official portal of Disaster Management and Relief and Rehabilitation department of Maharashtra i.e. URL- msdmacov19.mahait.org. The process of issuing the passes to the travellers has already began on this portal
- Once you open the website, click on to the Universal Travel Pass button at the top left corner
- The page will lead you to a new window
- Enter your mobile number(enter the number which you have used for booking vaccine)
- Once you submit the mobile number, the page will send you an OTP (One Time Password). Enter the correct OTP
- Then the page will lead you to the Establishment Registration Form. Fill in all the details
- Read the disclosure and click on the I Agree option before submitting
- The portal will first verify your basic details and verify if you have taken both the jabs
- You can log in using your mobile number
- Before generating the e-pass, upload your picture (one time) to get the pass
- Once its generated, click on the download option
What is Universal Travel Pass by the Maharashtra government?
The Universal Travel Pass generates a QR code to allow residents of Mumbai and adjoining areas to travel through Mumbai local. Maharashtra government is using this portal to generate e-passes for fully vaccinated people to allow common people to travel in Mumbai Metro, suburban local trains, and monorail from August 15, 2021 onwards. The initiative has been taken by the state government to curb the COVID-19 outspread after resuming the local train services. All establishments are categorized based on the nature of business and their staff will be allowed to travel during restricted timelines based on guidelines. This system generates e-pass for the staff of registered companies. This e-pass has QR code which can be authenticated by railway/bus authority.
