Tokyo Olympics 2021: How to watch Opening Ceremony, Schedule and Events
Tokyo Olympics opening ceremony will be broadcast live on Friday, July 23. Here's how you can watch it.
Tokyo Olympics is scheduled to begin on July 23, 2021, after a year-long delay due to the Coronavirus pandemic. The opening ceremony will be held at the newly-built National Stadium in the Japanese capital. The two-week event kicks off while the closing ceremony will be held on August 8, 2021, at the same location. This is the first time that the Olympic Games have been postponed and rescheduled, rather than canceled.
Originally scheduled to take place from 24 July to 9 August 2020, the event was postponed in March 2020 as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, and will be held largely behind closed doors with no spectators permitted under the state of emergency.
A total of around 11,000 athletes from 206 countries are expected to participate in 33 sports in Tokyo Olympics 2021. This year, India will be sending a 228-member strong contingent that will include 119 athletes competing for 85 medal events at the Olympics. This is the largest contingent that will be representing the nation at the Games with 67 male and 52 female participants.
