Chinese e-commerce app SHEIN to re-enter Indian market through Amazon
Last year Indian government had imposed a complete ban on several foreign apps. The list included e-commerce giant Shein as well. This e-commerce giant to now re-enter Indian market through Amazon, as a seller
Last year, Indian government imposed a complete ban on a list of Chinese apps. These included TikTok, PUBG, Camscanner, WeChat, SHEIN and many others. However, PUBG made its re-entry to the Indian market just a few months after it was banned by making few changes in its application and its working format. Now according to the latest reports, the e-commerce giant SHEIN to re-enter the Indian market through Amazon, but won’t make any modification to its working style, but will be available as a seller on the platform. The online shopping app for clothing and accessories, which is rooted in China will be soon available for Indian customers, reportedly.

For the unversed, SHEIN was banned by the Indian Ministry of Information Technology last year under Section 69A of the IT Act in order to safeguard “sovereignty and integrity of India, defence of India, security of state and public order”. The banned applications were alleged of invading cybersecurity and user privacy of Indian customers.
