Kanpur Accident: 16 Killed Six Seriously Injured In Road Accident
16 killed, six hurt in road accident in UP's Kanpur; PM announces Rs 2 lakh ex-gratia
At least 16 people were killed and six injured in a road accident. The shocking incident took place on the Kanpur-Allahabad highway in the Sachendi area of this Uttar Pradesh district. The accident took place late on Tuesday evening, police said. Two among the injured are said to be critical.
Kanpur Outer’s Superintendent of Police (SP) Ashtbhuja Prasad Singh said a speeding bus hit a loader, which fell on the other side of the highway, while the bus also overturned and fell into a ditch. The SP added that the collision was so strong that almost all passengers of both vehicles got trapped. Some of them died on the spot. Many of the deceased are said to be workers of a biscuit factory.
Prime Minister’s Office has announced an ex-gratia amount of Rs 2 lakh each to the next of kin of the deceased. It has also ordered an inquiry into the incident.

An official spokesperson of the Uttar Pradesh government said that the Chief Minister has expressed grief over the loss of lives in the road accident in Kanpur. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also announced an ex-gratia amount of ₹2 lakh each to the next of kin of the deceased. He has ordered an inquiry into the incident.
