Maharashtra Chief Minister, Uddhav Thackeray on Monday flagged off the trial run of the Mumbai Metro Line 2A and 7. The metro services to begin next year
On Monday i.e May 31, Maharashtra Chief Minister, Uddhav Thackeray flagged off the trial runs of the Mumbai Metro lines on the Charkop-Dahisar-Aarey route of Metro 2A and 7 corridors. The respective two Metro lines are expected to kickstart their full-time services from January 2022, with the first phase of Metro-2A (Dahisar-Aarey) and the second one Metro-7 (Dahanukarwadi to Aarey) commencing from October.
Thackeray took to his official Twitter handle and shared the update with the Mumbaikars. Chief Minister was accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister- Ajit Pawar, Urban Development Minister- Eknath Shinde, Tourism Minister -Aaditya Thackeray and few other prominent personalities at the trail run event.

“The oscillation trial of the prototype six-car rake will be conducted on Line 2A (Yellow Line) and Line 7 (Red Line) at various speeds. The sub-systems, other equipment will be tested under dynamic conditions. Integration with signaling, telecom and Platform Screen Doors will be tested along with different safety tests,” reportedly stated Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) spokesperson.
It is being said that a total of 10 trainsets will be available by October 2022. The commercial operations reportedly slated to be kickstarted by October 2021.
