Cyclone Yash Might Bring Heavy Rainfall To South Bengal Between May 23 To May 25

On Wednesday, the Regional Meteorological Department has forecasted that Cyclone Yash is likely to cause heavy rainfall in the Southern region of Bengal. Alongside heavy pouring landslides, alerts have also been issued. The weather department has warned that the ferocity of the cyclonic storm named by Oman might equal that of Amphan, which had caused massive disruption in May last year.

The date issued for the alert mode is between May 23 and May 25. As of now, the meteorological department has not predicted anything on the direction and the wind speed of the cyclone. But it is being said that the low depression has been formed in East Central Bay and its adjoining areas. As per the forecast, it is increasing in its strength every day and it might take a shape of a Super Cyclone soon. Thus the southern region has been alerted about the same.

According to the media reports, an official from the met department stated, “In the last 24 hours the temperature has increased five degrees and it is likely to touch 40 degrees in the next couple of days. The humidity is also high creating uneasiness for the people. These are all results of the depression.”
