Manchester United vs Liverpool Game Postponed After Fan Protest

Manchester United’s Premier League game against Liverpool was postponed on Sunday. The incident took place after thousands of fans broke into Old Trafford and protested against the Glazer family on the pitch. The Americans were under fire in the wake of their failed European Super League plot. The Glazers, have declined to engage with fans since buying United in 2005 in a leveraged takeover.

Manchester United fans turned up at the stadium for a demonstration against the Glazer family, leading to the game being postponed.

Supporters wore green-and-gold scarves and also set off flares in the colors of the club’s 1878 formation. Fans also clashed with police later on Sunday afternoon as they attempted to clear protests away from the stadium.

The supporters also held up the departure of the team bus from the Lowry Hotel. United and Liverpool players were unable to travel to the stadium.

United said in a statement, “Following discussion between the police, the Premier League, Trafford Council, and the clubs, our match against Liverpool has been postponed due to safety and security considerations around the protest today.”

The match was scheduled for 4:30 pm BST but this has now been postponed.
