Dostana 2: Kartik Aaryan’s fee hike demand is real reason for his exit?

Karan Johar backed, Dostana 2 is in the headlines ever since the production house officially announced on social media about going through the recasting process all over again. Reportedly, Kartik Aaryan’s team not giving the shoot dates were the problem and his team is alleged of not coordinating with the production house, which led the makers to drop him from the cast mid-way. Now according to the latest reports, Kartik’s exit from this film is because of his demand for a fee hike mid-way.

Dharma Production apparently shared the script for Dostana 2 with star cast in 2019, when Kartik’s market value is said to be between Rs. 2-3 crores. However after just two years i.e as of by 2021, his market value is reportedly at Rs.10 crores. According to the latest report by Bollywood Hungama, a source while talking about the controversy informed them that the real reason behind Kartik’s exit from Dostana 2 is his fee hike demand.

The portal has quoted the source, “Kartik Aaryan had come on board Dostana 2 in 2019 for a minimal amount of Rs. 2-3 crores, and at present his market value is upside of Rs. 10 crores. At first, he asked Karan for a hike in his acting fees mid-way as his market value had gone up big time in the last two years. While Karan believed it was unprofessional on Kartik’s part to renegotiate the remuneration mid-way, he tried to compensate him with another film, Mr. Lele. Kartik also agreed to come on board the said film and was all charged up for a quirky ride. But to his surprise, he found himself replaced all of a sudden by Vicky Kaushal without being notified. Kartik was also upset with Dharma Productions when they gave Shashank Khaitan’s Yoddha to Shahid Kapoor. Although Shahid soon quit, they never approached Kartik for the role anyway.”

For Karan, it was the actor’s unprofessional behavior that resulted in a big fallout. On the other side, Kartik felt that he was being underpaid for the job. One of the main reasons for the fallout is because lack of coordination. It is because of his not-so-pleasant relationship with Janhvi Kapoor. Due to his post-break-up behaviour and few other reasons, he was dropped from the film, further informed the source to the outlet.
