West Bengal govt shuts schools, summer vacations from May 7

The second wave of Coronavirus has hit the world badly and cases have been increasing day by day. In order to control the cases in Bengal, the government has taken a decision and announced to close all the schools in the state from tomorrow onwards and also declared summer vacations for all the government schools from May 7.

The students of Class 10 and 12, and the school teachers were attending physical classes till now. The classes for young students were already stopped.

Class 10 boards in Bengal are due on 1st June and class 12 from June 15. The preparations from the boards will be done online. State Education Minister Partha Chatterjee earlier said in regards to WBBSE and WBCHSE examinations, “The government will certainly make a decision in the interest of students at the appropriate time considering the COVID-19 situation.”

News agency ANI tweeted: “All the state government-run schools to remain closed from tomorrow till further notice. Early Summer vacation has been announced, in view of the surge in #COVID19 cases: West Bengal Education Minister Partha Chatterjee.”

Until now, the board has not taken any decision pertaining to the cancellation or deferment of board exams 2021 in the state. All classes and academic activities were being conducted online and physical classes were resumed after 11 months.
