Veteran Journalist & Author Anil Dharker passes away; Condolences pour in
Veteran journalist and writer Anil Dharker passed away on Friday in Mumbai. The noted journalist who founded Mumbai International Literary Festival was reportedly suffering from cardiac illness. In his career spanning many decades, Dharker donned many hats.
He was responsible for the opening of Akashwani Auditorium as an art movie theatre. He wrote the book “The Romance of Salt”. Headed the Film Finance Corporation, which later became the National Film Development Corporation. He has also been the editor of Mid-Day, The Independent and The Illustrated Weekly of India.
Dharker was also a member of the advisory board of the (ICCR), Doordarshan and the Children’s Film Society of India.
