‘The Dirty Picture’ Actress Arya Banerjee Passes Away

Actress Arya Banerjee who worked in Vidya Balan’s critically acclaimed film The Dirty Picture was found dead in her Kolkata apartment. Banerjee lived alone in her house with a dog. Banerjee’s domestic help raised an alarm after the actor did not respond to her calls since Friday morning. She was also not answering the door of her flat.

As reported by The Telegraph, Arya Banerjee was her screen name and her real name was Devdutta Banerjee. She was the daughter of late sitar maestro Nikhil Banerjee. Devdutta was alone in her house and was found lying on the floor with her face down. The police who broke open the door found some blood droplets on the floor.

There were no injury marks on her body as per the police investigations. Forensic experts found she was bleeding from her nose and had vomited. The body was sent for post mortem. The police will announce the exact cause of death only once the post-mortem reports are in.

Banerjee’s neighbours have told the police that she was living alone since the lockdown and was getting her food through app-based delivery platforms for some time now. She used to spend time with her pet dog. But she didn’t mix with anyone in the locality.

The 35-year-old daughter of late sitarist Pandit Nikhil Banerjee had marked her debut in Dibakar Bannerjee’s Love Sex Aur Dhokha in 2010. She also did some modelling assignments.
