Former captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, lovingly called Mahi by fans, announced his retirement from international cricket. The much-loved skipper with a huge fan following took to Instagram to inform his fans. He wrote, “Thanks a lot for ur love and support throughout. From 1929 hrs consider me as Retired.”
MS Dhoni, 39, was known for his calm demeanour and cool disposition on the field even when things were not going his way. He led the Indian cricket team to win the first-ever Twenty20 World Cup held in 2007. In 2011, the Indian team won its second Cricket World Cup under his captaincy. He is also known as one of the best wicket-keepers and a destructive finisher batsman. He led Chennai Super Kings to victory thrice.
Fans of the legendary cricketer were heartbroken but extended their warm wishes and also wished him good luck for his journey ahead. A number of celebrities too took to social media to wish him good luck.
