4.5 magnitude earthquake jolts Rajkot in Gujarat, , residents rush out of homes in panic
An earthquake measuring 4.5 on the Richter Scale hit Rajkot in Gujarat at 7.40 am on Thursday. The epicentre of the earthquake was Bhayasar, a village 16 km south-east of Rajkot city. The quake hit at a depth of more than 10 kilometres. Several people rushed out of their homes in panic. But there has been no report of any damage to life or property.

The tremors of the earthquake were felt as far away as Jasdan, a town that is 50 km east of Rajkot, and parts of neighbouring Amreli district.
This was the second earthquake to strike Rajkot in about a month’s time. On June 14, a 5.3 magnitude earthquake having its epicentre in Kutch district was felt in Rajkot, too.
Not only Gujarat but two more earthquakes were reported from different parts of the country today. An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.1 hit Karimganj in Assam at 7:57 am today. A low-intensity earthquake measuring 2.3 on the Richter scale hit Una in Himachal Pradesh at 4:47 am.
