TikTok App Flooded With 1-Star Reviews Amid Faizal Siddiqui Controversy
The app's rating has gone down to 2 stars from 4.5 stars
TikTok has been flooded with 1-star reviews on Apple App and Google Play Store. The app has been at the center of controversy following a video from TikTok creator Faizal Siddiqui that has been accused of glorifying acid attacks on women. In addition, the app was also bombarded with 1-star reviews from the followers of YouTuber CarryMinati. The app’s rating has gone down to 2 stars from 4.5 stars in just a few days after these controversies. More, #banTikTokIndia has also been trending on Twitter.
TikTok now has an average 2-star rating on Google Play Store. A majority of the recent 1-star reviews have been left by Indian users calling TikTok a ‘waste app’. The demand for a total ban on the app in India has been on the rise.
YouTuber CarryMinati published a video titled ‘YouTube vs TikTok: The End’ where he roasted TikTok creator Amir Siddiqui. While the video garnered millions of views, it was removed from YouTube for ‘violating terms of service’.
However, the main reason TikTok has been flooded with 1-star reviews has been due to the controversial video uploaded by Faizal Siddiqui. The video has been accused of glorifying acid attacks on women. Faizal Siddiqui has defended the video and claimed that it was misinterpreted.
The video has attracted a lot of criticism. Actor-filmmaker Pooja Bhatt, as well as singer Sona Mohapatra, have come forward to condemn the video. They also requested TikTok to remove it.
Moreover, #BanTikTokIndia and #tiktokexposed have been trending on Twitter with videos of TikTok promoting rape, misogyny, and animal cruelty.
