Madhuri Dixit to star in Anand Gandhi's six-part drama series, Saheli
Madhuri Dixit Nene is all set to make her digital debut in acting with Netflix original series produced by Karan Johar. Even before the shooting of the series begins, yet another report surfaced on the internet claiming that Madhuri Dixit has been roped in for another digital show, which will be aired on Disney+ Hotstar. The show will be directed by Anand Gandhi, who had previously helmed Ship of Theseus.
Madhuri Dixit’s digital show has been titled as Saheli and it will be a six-part drama series. Speaking the same, a source told mid-day, “Anand has been developing the six-part drama over the past two years. The story spans over three decades from the late ’80s to 2020. Mumbai, as a backdrop, is integral to the proceedings as the protagonist’s journey runs parallel to the city’s evolution.”
The source told the tabloid, “After zeroing in on Madhuri for the lead role, the team had only begun the principal casting when the lockdown was announced and will resume pending pre-production work when the restrictions are relaxed.”
Speaking about her digital debut, Madhuri had earlier said, “I’ve always been a fan of Netflix, which is why I decided to make my debut as a producer with 15th August. The reach and diversity in the audience that the global service provides are unparalleled. And of course, Karan and his team have been like family for me, so when I got this opportunity to play the protagonist in this series that’s produced by both Netflix and Dharmatic – I was beyond excited… This series is entertaining, riveting, and yet heartwarming.”
