MHA Allows Movement Of Stranded Migrant Workers, Tourists, Students
Ministry of Home Affairs has issued an order that allows movement of migrant workers, tourists, students and other persons stranded at various places
Due to the nationwide lockdown, many migrant workers are stranded in various states. Also, students, tourists are not being allowed to go to their places due to the pan-India lockdown. It has been a month now and the Ministry of Home Affairs has issued an order today that allows movement of migrant workers, tourists, students, and other persons stranded at various places. The order comes with a few guidelines.
One of the points states that the moving person(s) will be screened and if he/she is found asymptomatic then only they will be allowed to proceed and the movement will be by road. “On arrival of their destination, such person(s) would be assessed by the local health authorities and kept in home quarantine unless the assessment requires keeping the person(s) in institutional quarantine. They would be kept under watch with periodic health check-ups. For this purpose, such persons may be encouraged to use Aarogya Setu app through which their health status can be monitored and tracked,” one of the guidelines mentioned in the order.

According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the total number of coronavirus cases in India is 31,787. This includes 22,982 active cases, 1,008 deaths, 7797 recovered patients, and 1 migrated patient. 1,813 new cases and 71 deaths are reported in the last 24 hours.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to address the nation at the end of this week and he might extend the lockdown beyond May 3. He had a meeting with the chief ministers of various states via video-conferencing and asked all the ministers to have an exit plan looking at the situation of their states.
