Veteran Actor Sasi Kalinga Passes Away; Malayalam Stars Mourn His Death
He was suffering from a liver ailment and was 59 at the time of death
Veteran Malayalam actor Sasi Kalinga took his last breath on Tuesday (April 7). He was suffering from a liver ailment. He was 59 at the time of death. His official name is Chandra Kumar but he changed it to Sasi before entering the industry. As per reports, Sasi was diagnosed with liver disease a few years ago and was undergoing treatment. He is survived by his wife Prabhavathi.
Celebs from the Malayalam film industry, including Prithviraj Sukumaran, Nivin Pauly, Miya George, screenwriter Chemban Vinod Jose and Manju Warrier took to their social media pages to pay tribute to the veteran actor.
Prithviraj Sukumaran wrote, “Condolences! Rest in peace!”, Nivin and Manju wrote their eulogies in Malayalam.

Director Lijo Jose Pellissery posted Sasi Kalinga’s picture and captioned it as Amen. Both worked together in musical satire film, Amen, which featured Fahadh Faasil in the lead role. Sasi was raved for his performance in the film.
Sasi Kalinga started his acting career in theatres and then started doing movies. He made his debut with the film Thakarachenda. He is known for his films like Pranchiyettan, The Saint, Amen, and Vellimoonga among others. Sasi starred in over 500 films in his career.
