‘Ramayana’ to re-run on television from tomorrow, confirms Prakash Javadekar
Indian television, Minister for Information & Broadcast Prakash Javadekar confirms that iconic mythology shows 'Ramayana' to come back on television.
The news of the two iconic mythology shows ‘Mahabharata’ and ‘Ramayana’ to re-run on television is doing rounds on social media ever since Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced 21 days lockdown. Now, Indian television, Minister for Information & Broadcast Prakash Javadekar confirmed the return of the iconic mythology shows of the 80s ‘Ramayana’ on television.
Confirming the news, the Indian television, Minister for Information & Broadcast Prakash Javadekar tweeted, “Happy to announce that on public demand, we are starting retelecast of ‘Ramayana’ from tomorrow, Saturday March 28 in DD National, One episode in morning 9 am to 10 am, another in the evening 9 pm to 10 pm.@narendramodi

The official account of DD News also confirmed the return of ‘Ramayana’ with a tweet.

People noted how life on Sunday mornings would come to a standstill when these serials were telecasted on Doordarshan National.
On the other hand, the show ‘Ramayana’ ran on Doordarshan for the longest period of time and were huge TRP rakers. Ramanand Sagar’s ‘Ramayana’ starred Arun Govil as Ram and Deepika Chikhalia as Sita, with Arvind Trivedi performing Raavan and Dara Singh essaying Hanuman. The series basically ran from 25 January 1987 to 31 July 1988. Written, directed and produced by Ramanand Sagar.
Recently the cast of Ramayana reunited on ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’ to celebrate 33 years of its airing. In the episode, several interesting disclosures were also made by Arun Govil (Ram), Dipika (Sita) and Sunil Lahri (Lakman) that kept the viewers hooked.
