Thalaivi: First Look of Arvind Swami as MGR in Kangana Ranaut starrer out

On the occasion of MG Ramachandran’s (MGR) birth anniversary today the makers of J Jayalalithaa biopic– Thalaivi— have unveiled the official first look poster of actor Arvind Swami as MGR. Earlier the makers had shared Kangana Ranaut’s first look as former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Jayalalithaa. She is playing the titular role

Film trade analyst Ramesh Bala shared the first look of Swamy as MGR on Twitter. He tweeted, “Here is the FL of @thearvindswami as Puratchi Thalaivar Dr #MGR in Dir #Vijay – #KanganaRanaut ‘s Late TN Ex-CM Amma Dr. J.Jayalalithaa Bio-pic #Thalaivi.”

In the first look poster, Arvind sports a clean-shaven look and resembles MGR in clothes, demeanor and appearance. His hair also is quite similar to MGR’s in the period between 1965-1970s.

MGR was the mentor figure to Jayalalithaa and had formed the political party AIADMK, after quitting the DMK in 1972. He took the power of Tamil Nadu in 1977. MGR was also the chief minister of Tamil Nadu for ten consecutive years until his death on December 24, 1987.

Thalaivi, the upcoming feature based on the life and times of Jayalalithaa, fondly called Amma, is directed by Vijay and is expected to hit the screens on June 26.
