Mirzapur Season 2: Character’s transformation leaves Shweta Tripathi emotionally drained
Mirzapur actor Shweta Tripathi talks about the changing demeanour of her role in season two.
Ever since Amazon Prime Video’s Mirzapur season 1 ended, millions have been eagerly waiting for its season 2. The release date of Mirzapur season 2 is yet to be officially announced. Produced by Excel Entertainment, Mirzapur web series is a crime thriller, which is mostly shot in Jaunpur, Azamgarh, Ghazipur, Lucknow and Gorakhpur.
The story of Mirzapur revolves around drugs, goons and lawlessness. The web series showcases the putrescence, governance and rule of mafia dons and the rivalry and crime prevailing in the Purvanchal region of Uttar Pradesh. The first season, which has 9 episodes, featured Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, Vikrant Massey, Shweta Tripathi, Shriya Pilgaonkar, Rasika Dugal, Harshita Gaur, Divyendu Sharma and Kulbhushan Kharbanda.
Speaking about the gorgeous actress, Shweta Tripathi, who played the role of Gajgamini “Golu” Gupta, younger daughter of Parshuram. She emerges as a winner against the son of a local gunda in her college elections.
When Shweta Tripathi was asked about her role’s transformation she told mid-day that her character’s transformation left her emotionally drained. There are several characters in the web series would not appear in the second season but Shweta Tripathi had to look at her role in a new light.
Speaking about the same, she quoted as saying to mid-day, “My character goes through a lot of anguish in season one; it changes her personality. So, I changed my body language for the second season. It took multiple readings of the script to understand her growth. We have enhanced the core emotion that drives her. It was a layered part that I enjoyed working on.”
