#MeToo: Tanushree Dutta opposes police’s clean chit to Nana Patelar

Former Bollywood actress Tanushree Dutta, who revolutionised #MeToo moment in India, opposed ‘B-Summary’ report filed by the Oshiwara police in connection with her complaint of sexual harassment against veteran actor Nana Patekar.

Tanushree Dutta on Thursday (December 5) filed a petition before a court when the police did not find any evidence against Nana Patekar to file a chargesheet. The lawyer of Tanushree Dutta, Nitin Satpute, has reportedly filed protest petition before a metropolitan magistrate’s court in Andheri.

The petition filed by Dutta asking the court to begin contempt proceedings against the investigating officer for filing a “false report”, and that the Anti Corruption Bureau register a case against him. The petition also demanded narco-analysis of Nana Patekar and investigating officer.

The Aashiq Banaya Aapne actress has requested the court to hand over the case to the Crime Branch of Mumbai Police. For the unversed, In July this year, the Oshiwara police did inform that they did not have any evidence againt Patekar to prosecute him.

Tanushree Dutta filed her first complaint against Nana Patekar in October 2018. In her complaint, she accused him of harassing her and misbehaving with her while shooting a song on the sets of the film Horn Ok Pleassss in 2008.

Taking action on her complaint, a case was registered against Mr. Patekar, choreographer Ganesh Acharya, producer Samee Siddiqui and director Rakesh Sarang.

According to reports, the Court is likely to hear arguments on the closure report by the Police, accused and Dutta’s lawyer. Even though the police have submitted a closure report, it is at the discretion of the court whether to accept it. It can reject it and orders the police to file a chargesheet on available evidence.
