Maharashtra Polls 2019: BJP names the first list of candidates
BJP releases first Maharashtra election candidate list, Devendra Fadnavis to contest from Nagpur South West
The Bhartiya Janata Party has released the first list of their candidates for the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly polls. The polls will be held on October 21 across the state. They had earlier revealed Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, BJP chief Chandrakant Dada Patil and minister Pankaja Munde among 125 candidates. Now in the first list, they have announced the name of Shivaji Maharaj’s descendant, Udayanraje Bhosale as its candidate for Satara by-polls.
Devendra Fadnavis will fight polls from Nagpur South West seat, Patil is set to contest from Kothrud after BJP dropped sitting MLA Medha Kulkarni’s name this time. Udayanraje Bhosale, who had crossed over from NCP to BJP recently, will be party’s face in Satara.
The announcement comes a day after Bharatiya Janata Party and Shiv Sena issued a Press release that they will contest next month’s Maharashtra state elections as an alliance.
