Amazon, Flipkart make record-breaking sales
For the festive sale Amazon and Flipkart escalate sales on its first day
This year for the festive occasion Amazon and Flipkart came up with their festive sale. On the first day of the sale, the company witnessed significant spike in the sale. Flipkart and Amazon began their annual sale on the festive occasion of Navratri. The weekend kicked off on a good note as the consumers scrolled through to make their purchases.
Flipkart’s ‘Big Billion Days’ and Amazon’s ‘Great Indian Festival’ began on Sunday. For the opening day, Amazon reported record sales of approx 7.5 billion rupees ($7.07 million) in 36 hours. This sales fell under the category of premium smartphone whereas Flipkart reported that it saw double-digit sales growth comparatively to the previous year on the mark of its first day.
Exclusively for Prime Members, the Amazon Great Indian Festival had been live on Sunday noon though 12 hours later it was available for everyone. The smartphones that sold well were namely OnePlus, Samsung and Apple. When it comes to Fashion, the sale however soared by 4.6 times and in the grocery section it observed a 3.5 times growth.

Likewise, Flipkart reported the same thing. “We started this festive season by setting audacious targets for ourselves and our teams. By all indications, this is going to be the biggest festive season that India has witnessed. There is no doubt that ecommerce has not only lifted consumer sentiment, but has also driven the industry to set new benchmarks. Affordability and value driven themes clearly are the pulsating chords for India and Bharat. We are in the centre of it all, and are able to serve the ecosystem for their unique needs” Kalyan Krishnamurthy, CEO, Flipkart Group said.
At present, the Amazon and Flipkart festive sale is still going on and as mentioned on their websites will end on 4th October.
