Ikka: Akshay Kumar to play double role in Tamil film Kathithi’s remake?
Akshay Kumar to reunite with Mission Mangal director Jagan Shakti's next, Ikka?
Akshay Kumar —who is gearing up for his upcoming film Mission Mangal directed by Jagan Shakti —has been roped in for yet another project of the same director. Yes, the director of Mission Mangal has announced that Akshay Kumar will play the lead role in his upcoming film Ikka, which is a remake of Tamil blockbuster movie Kathithi. The film Kathithi starred Vijay and Samantha Akkineni as the lead pair.
Similar to Vijay in Kathithi, Akshay Kumar will play a double role in its Hindi remake. Notably, Akshay has worked with the director of Kathithi, AR Murugadoss in Holiday: A Soldier Is Never Off Duty. The film was supposed to release in 2015-16 but it was put on hold for some reason.

When Jagan Shakti was asked about the delay he said that the remake was put on the backburner when came across the story of Mission Mangal, which is all set to hit the theatres on 15th August 2019. When Akshay was asked about the film he had once said that he is yet to sign on the dotted line.
Jagan Shakti told Mumbai Mirror, “But now Ikka will go on the floors very soon,” adding on he said, “It will resonate with the underprivileged section of the society. With my second directorial, I want to explore action which is presented in a sleek way.”
It is to be noted that the announcement of Ikka comes a few days after Akshay took to his social media accounts to reveal the first look poster of his upcoming film, Bachchan Pandey, which will be released on Christmas 2020. It looks like the Khiladi of Bollywood is on an announcing spree. Yes, he has several projects lined up including Mission Mangal, Housefull 4, Bachchan Pandey and Ikka.
