Rutger Hauer of Blade Runner fame passes away at 75 in Netherlands
Hollywood star Rutger Hauer passes away at the age of 75 at his home in the Netherlands. The actor has died after a brief illness. The news is confirmed by his agent Steve Kenis who said that the actor passed away on July 19 at his home. He also revealed that the funeral was held on July 24, 2019.
“Rutger Hauer has died at the age of 75. He is regarded as one of the Netherlands’ greatest actors,” the ANP news wire said.
Rutger Hauer is best remembered for his role in Blade Runner. He shared screen space with Harrison Ford. Hauer played the murderous replicant Roy Batty in the movie, which was directed by Ridley Scott.
Guillermo Del Toro, the director of the movie Shape of Water, took to his Twitter account and shared the sad news about Rutger’s death.

Rutger Hauer has acted in numerous Hollywood movies including ‘Dracula 3D’, ‘Escape from Sobibor’, ‘The Hitcher’ and many others. He was also seen in a mini-series titled Salem’s Lot. He appeared in a total of over 100 Dutch and international movies, winning a Golden Globe in 1988 for his role in ‘Escape from Sobibor’.
He was also seen in ‘Nighthawks’ with Sylvester Stallone,’Batman Begins’ and ‘Ladyhawke’, alongside Michelle Pfeiffer.
