Namrata Shirodkar pens an emotional note for late Vijaya Nirmala
Vijaya Nirmala is the step-mom of South superstar Mahesh Babu
Popular director-actress and Mahesh Babu’s step-mother Vijaya Nirmala had passed away today. She was 73-year old at the time of her death. Reportedly, Vijaya Nirmala was suffering from age-related illness and was admitted to the Continental Hospital in Gachibowlii, where she had a heart attack. The entire family is mourning the death of the veteran personality. Namrata Shirodkar, Mahesh Babu’s wife wrote a heartfelt note for her mother-in-law.
Taking to her Instagram handle, Namrata shared a throwback picture of herself with her mother-in-law and calls Vijaya Nirmala as a “woman of substance who was a warm, loving and caring soul… she was strong, brave, fun loving and full of life”
Namrata also wrote that Vijaya was a “visionary and truly ahead of her time in her thoughts and deeds”. Towards the end, she wished her a beautiful journey ahead.

Vijaya Nirmala is survived by her husband Krishna and son Vijaya Naresh. Mahesh Babu and Manjula Ghattamaneni are her step-children. Mahesh Babu, Namrata and his father Krishna paid their last respects to Vijaya Nirmala at her home in Nanakramguda.
Vijaya Nirmala was born on February 20, 1944, in Tamil Nadu. She made her acting debut as a child artiste in a Tamil film Matsyarekha. She acted in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam films; around 200 films. Also, she directed 44 Telugu films and entered the Guinness Book of World Records for directing so many films as a woman director.
She was awarded the Raghupathi Venkaiah Award in 2008 for her immense contribution to the Telugu film industry.
